Tribute to Ven. Dr. Obinna Ibezim

To everything there is a season and time for every purpose under heaven. But this is untimely and came as a rude shock. My wife and I came in from Abuja (from our daughter's wedding) when the news was broken to us. Our happiness turned to sadness. We grieve and are in pain but cannot question God. Our consolation is that you are in a better place of eternal rest. You were always there for anyone who needed your support, service and counselling. You will continue to be in our hearts. May God grant your soul eternal rest as you journey to the great beyond.

A TRIBUTE TO THE VEN. OBINNA IBEZIM

NO MAN HAS POWER OVER THE DAY OF HIS DEATH (Ecclesiastes 8:8). He was a respected Pastor. No matter the order of ministry, or office he held, the Venerable Obinna Ibezim, Teacher, Priest, Canon, Lecturer, etc,—— the most distinguishing mark of who he was, was “FRIENDSHIP”. We are sure that many will attest to this. He was a very young priest in this church when we knew him. We appreciated his wisdom, his gentle approach to issues, his prayer life, and the grace in expository preaching.

The Ven. Obinna and the wife, approached my wife and I, to be their spiritual father and mother, right from the inception of their marriage. We are glad to serve them in this capacity. The couple have been our friends, ll date. O LORD, send the Holy Spirit (the Comforter, to all who are devastated by this sad news. In Your mercy, LORD speak peace to us, and make us to trust You more. TEACH US, O LORD, NOT TO HOLD ON TO LIFE TOO TIGHTLY; TEACH US TO HOLD IT AS A GIFT TO CHERISH AND TO HALLOW; TEACH US TO HOLD TENACIOUSLY TO CHRIST, WHOSE KNOWING IS ABUNDANT LIFE OVERFLOWING TO ETERNITY;TEACH US TO LET GO WHEN THE GIVER COMES FOR IT , THROUGH WHATEVER MEANS; TEACH US TO KNOW THAT THIS CHRIST IS THE GIVER OF LIFE , AND HE IS GREATER THAN LIFE ITSELF ;TEACH US TO CLING TO THIS JESUS CHRIST, WHO DIED AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD, LEADING ALL WHO DIE IN HIM TO LIFE EVERLASTING, AS WE TRUST THAT THE VENERABLE OBINNA IBEZIM IS IN LIFE EVERLASTING NOW WITH CHRIST . AMEN!!!

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS IN A COOLER FOR THE RESURRECTION MORNING

Uncle Obi, the thought of your demise is hurting but the fact that this excruciating thought is going to be with us for as long as Jesus tarries is totally heartbreaking. My siblings and I grew up loving you with all our hearts, we had no reservation for you first loved us. The memories we shared with you and 'aunty nneka' remain a point of personal reset in our hearts. You had a name beautifully crafted for me (Nanando). You thought me to be ME. I remember vividly your soul pricking counsel at the verge of my entry into the university, those words germinated as seeds and brewed courage, boldness and willpower in me.

Uncle Obi, as I sailed through the wavy waters of the shores of Nigeria, you were always not far with a spare life jacket of advice and care, you were so far away in Nigeria yet I could almost feel you around saying those words, "Nanando, just be you". You had my email password and knew my little pranks as a young man. Uncle Obi, you knew everything about me. I remember that faithful day, you were asked by my parents to drop me back to School at St. Augustine Anglican Seminary, Nbawsi while they were away for Lambeth Conference, I had to soak my clothes in water because I didn't want to go back that day thinking you would reschedule, only for you to bundle me alongside my wet clothes back to school as late as 7:30pm screaming "Nnamdi, you must learn to be a man". Really?? Now I wonder, how could anyone have cared this much? Uncle Obi, I have become a man, even the scripture says, a laborer deserves his wages, Uncle obi, where are you?

Even in my ministerial journey, you came along with a more refined approach, guiding me with an eagle eye not relenting with the rod. As I picked the paper of my first posting as a Postulant, the wind of luck landed me under your care in St. Andrews Ogbor-hill, Aba. I was happy thinking it would be the same old jolly relationship until that faithful morning, you yelled at me for something you would have overlooked if it were on the other side of the divide. I braced up, learning the lesson that later became a defining moment in my journey as a young Priest. Honestly, you were the least person I ever imagined would exit this evil world at this time. Uncle Obi, I had plans oooo! I never knew my fruit would not ripe within my mind given time frame, else, I would have adjusted it. Everyone says we cannot question God, but I'm reassured by the fact that my many unanswered questions are left in the cooler for the resurrection morning. Mummy Jewel, please take heart. Daniel, Michael and Prisca, my little siblings, please be consoled, Daddy was a great man and we'll keep trailing his steps, the baton is on us now!

My Wife and I do appreciate God for his life. He was truly impeccable in all human standards.

Rest in Peace my Spiritual Father Rest in peace my eloquent expositor extraordinary Life has no guarantees indeed. My heart bleeds!

I am writing this with tears because I will miss you. I was only 2 years old when my parents travelled, you and mummy cared for me. I will miss the way you call me Gonaya, you were too nice to us. Tribute to a Beloved Uncle

When I think of my Uncle Obi, I think of peace. A firm yet reassuring presence. Memories of visits to the States during my childhood when, before his flight home, he would hand Tobechi and me a bag of coins, the left-over change from all his shopping. I feel the powerful prayers that he lovingly spoke over each and every member of our large family, prayers that I know continue to support us even now. He always had a word of encouragement and a smile to share and that’s one of the virtues I love most about him. Our dearest Uncle, since your departure, we have struggled to reconcile the fact that your time with us here on earth has come to its conclusion. It doesn’t seem right that the world continues moving when you aren’t here. You’ve touched so many with your love, ministry, and the spectacular life you led. You’re priceless. Your kind and ever graceful spirit set the example for us to follow. It’s been an honor to exist in the same space for the time we shared together. We love you so much. Until we meet again.

Our Tributes to Our Loving Uncle

I remember the first time I met Uncle Obi. He greeted my siblings and me with a joyous tone, and when he looked back at us, his dimples were on full display as he offered a big smile. That moment set the tone for that visit and every other time I had the pleasure of seeing my uncle. He radiated kindness and wisdom, and even when we did something wrong, he corrected us with love and understanding. Never yelling, but offering knowledge and counsel. We explored a bit that visit and found ourselves at a farmer’s market right by a small beach where boats docked. It was then that I had the pleasure of seeing my father and uncle tell stories of their past and playfully poke fun at each other. Laughter and smiles filled the air as we sat and ate. I did not want it to end, and it never really did. Every time I saw my uncle, he always came bearing the same gift of warmth and joy. My sweet Uncle Obi, I will forever be grateful for the prayers, kindness, and love you continuously offered me. Every time you called to let me know you were in town, you would always start by saying, " Hello Udobeke & quot; I would always mistake your voice for my father's, but I have come to understand that love carries the same tone. It's devastating to think that I will not hear your voice again, but I find solace in knowing the legacy you left with us. I will miss you deeply. May your soul rest in peace.

Udodirim Ibezim

Uncle Obi, I will always remember your kind heart and gentle nature. I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know you, to get to laugh with you, and to get to hear your encouraging and often funny anecdotes. You used your words wisely with a goal to inspire, comfort, heal, and offer hope. In every conversation and interaction, your devotion to God was evident. Though you have left this earth, your impact and memory will live on through the lives you have touched with your love, patience, and powerful ministry. Your life was truly a blessing, so beautifully and purposefully lived.

May your soul rest in heavenly peace.

Chisara Ibezim

Dear Obi, I still can’t bear the reality that you are no longer on earth. Death is a common leveler and has no regards for the status of an individual, such that it can even come for the great in the prime/peak of their greatness. You are a God-fearing man. Your Heavenly Father has decided that it is now time you rest from your labors on this earth. Obi, you are well loved and will be missed by everyone. I will miss, I love you.

Till we meet again.

Umu Kamara

Uncle Obi, you were full of kindness and love. Over the years, you always offered me wise words and helpful advice. You were a blessing in my life and I will never forget you or the impact you had. I will miss you dearly.

Rest in perfect peace, Uncle.

Chidiebere Ibezim

As an absolute father figure, you showed me love and sacrifice in their purest forms. Being a Godfather means much more to me now because you made me feel special. All I ever wanted was to get on the beer side of life for an opportunity to show gratitude for your selflessness, what a gem you were.

“O ga adicha nno mma”, as you would always say to me, after which you’d part with something for me no matter how big. Obi agbawala m… I never thought I’d be writing a tribute to anyone so dear anytime soon. I am terrible at expressing emotions but this loss cut deep. I’m still in denial that you are gone but I know you’re in a beer place because you were too good for this cruel world.

Thank you for shining your light and for living an exemplary life. I love to pray now because you made prayer look so effortless; I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. I know I will see those dimples again someday, until then I LOVE YOU UNCLE.

So long... from your Godson,

Man Of Go

My Sweet Uncle Obii

My Sweet Uncle Obii, you once wrote, “The greatness of a man does not consist of his size, wealth, or his education. But one who is truly great is one who is truly wise. Wisdom is to know God and to serve Him”. And you did just that.

And while this gives me peace and a measure of comfort, my heart still breaks as I really do miss you a lot…your kind smile, your calm voice, your constant words of encouragement, your prayers and your steadfast faith: all things that you will always be remembered for. Chai my darling Uncle Obi … I still can’t believe you’re gone but as we’ve all been saying to each other “It Is Well”.

Dede’m, continue to rest peacefully.

You will forever be in my heart.

I love you,

Tribute to my Uncle

My uncle Obii, how can I summarize my time with you in one paragraph or one page? When I think of you, I just think there’s this bad dream that I’ll soon wake up from but it’s taking too long uncle. All we have are beautiful memories. Uncle, you made prayer look so simple because you said it should be a way of life. You lived a simple, uncomplicated life, yet you loved the good things of life. I really wanted you to meet KemKem but not to worry, I’ll tell her all about you. Life is indeed fickle. Who is going to call me Zigizigi? I mean aunty Nne would but it’s not the same. I’m struggling with the fact that I won't get to talk to you or see you again. I am devastated and I have questions but I don’t know who to ask. I asked Mikey what you’d want us to do and I literally answered myself and he agreed with me. You’d tell us not to worry, and all things work together for good. In everything, give thanks hasn't been this hard to say. Grateful for the passage that says blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. This is an assurance that we will indeed be comforted. Continue to rest in God’s bosom Uncle Obii.

TRIBUTE TO A GREAT SERVANT OF GOD LATE VEN. OBINNA IBEZIM

Obi, writing your tribute is one of the worst experiences of our life as a family. Your sudden exit from this world is so painful and difficult for us to believe. When we spoke with you on the evening of Thursday, the 13th of April, you assured us you would visit by the weekend when you come back from Ebonyi State. We were filled with expectancy that one of our beloved Sons would come visiting as usual, with his charming and infectious smiles, jokes, words of encouragement and sharing of his work and life experiences and we would pray together as always. Words cannot express the rude shock we passed through and are still passing through when the news of your sudden demise came to us the following day. To say the least, it is still a hard pill to for the entire family to swallow. Obi, we got to know you through your parents in the diocese of Umuahia. The relationship spread through to your siblings down to your entire family. Our personal relationship with you as our second Chaplain in the Diocese of Umuahia down to the Diocese of Aba as our administrative assistant, Knights' Chaplain etc. created a great bond between the two families. You passed through us in all the stages of your ministry as a Minister of God. All the duties assigned to you, you performed creditably with all sincerity, total commitment and dedication.

You were honest to a fault but to your credit and to the glory of God. Obi, you were brilliant, an astute scholar and unassuming Minister of God. When you sang, even the deaf would listen and the blind would dance. When you preach the word, a hardened heart would melt and souls were won for God. You were so heavenly minded that things of this world didn't mean much to you. Your passion was to defend the oppressed and lift the burden of the down trodden. You felt happier when everyone around you was happy. We have a lot to say about our journey with you. Our Children grew with you and saw you as "UNCLE OBINNA" and not as Reverend or Venerable OBINNA. If any mortal can be described as being impeccable, obedient, humble, respectful, submissive, committed, dedicated, forgiving, sound in knowledge, always resolute in taking positive life imparting decisions, loving, truthful, patience, calm even in the face of crisis and uncertainty, these virtues and more were found in you. To say the least, we miss your charming and amiable disposition. We know that God who allowed this to happen to us at this time, will console us. Our thoughts and prayers are with your beloved Wife, Nneka, your Children, siblings, the Church of God to which you served with your whole life and the entire Ezeoke community. Adieu Obi, adieu great servant of God Adieu the beloved of God.

A GENTLEMAN, SERVANT OF THE MOST HIGH AND DEAR BROTHER, TAKES AN EARLY FLIGHT HOME!

Whenever I think about Obi like I fondly call him, I remember his bright dimpled smile. He had one for everybody he met along the way. I also remember his faith, soothing, steady, reassuring. I imagine him at this moment saying “Nwanyi bekee…it is well; God is still God” and inviting us to pray. My heart bleeds at the Thought of never seeing him on this side of creation. But as I look back and remembers the life that he led, I know he is smiling down at us with his signature smile telling us that God is in control. Obi was a devoted son, a supportive brother, a loving husband, a great daddy not only to his children but to his nieces, nephews, cousins and flock, an amazing uncle, and a very dear friend. Although he has left an unbearable void, he left us a part of him that neither me nor even his death can ever take away. What makes it bearable is knowing that Obi served God faithfully, prepared for a me like this and left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories. Obi exuded strength, warmth, and kindness. He appreciated every effort and would beam in happiness over a simple, seemingly insignificant gift.

To all of us who knew him, he was always there for us. Indeed, each me we travelled home to Ezeoke, Obi and Nne would drive over from Aba to be with us in a heartbeat. It seemed all so effortless. One man mentioned someone was in need, and he would comb the earth in search of salutations. Even now, I can picture him searching for words of comfort, telling us that it is well with us. I believe he would want us to be strong through these darkest of days. That is what he always does – gives light and strength when it seems impossible to go on. Obi was truly loved, respected, cherished and honored by many. He may not have lived as long as we would have liked, but he lived a great, impactful life, one that we will forever cherish and will continue to remember. To live in the hearts of those you love is to never die. Rest in eternal peace my dearest Obi; you will never be forgone.

TRIBUTE TO MY DEAR BROTHER OBINNA

Obi, you touched so many lives and will be sorely missed. Now that you’ve gone to be with the Lord, I look back and remember the great life that you lived, though it was for too short a time. The pain of your loss is indescribable. Whenever I think about you, I remember your bright angelic smile and kind, calm disposition. For as long as I have known you, you were always cool, calm and collected.

Although you are no longer physically with us, you will forever remain in our hearts and your spirit and memory will always be felt. Thank you for coming into our lives and enriching all of us with your intellect, warmth, counsel and candid prayers. You were always so kind and supportive; a dependable pillar of a brother, an amazing person that showed us all how to live life to the fullest yet give generously to others. You will always be remembered for your love and devotion to God and kindness to others. You were God sent, taken away from us too soon but we celebrate your life and rejoice knowing that you are now in heaven.

The world will truly never be the same without you Obi but we will hold your memory close to our hearts until we meet again to never part.

May your kind, gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Your Big Brother

Frank

Dearest Obi, writing a tribute in honor of a great man is not something to be approached casually. It is indeed a privilege to celebrate your magnanimous life and greatness. Growing up with you remains the best time of my life. It was such an adventurous childhood we enjoyed. Obi, you helped me practically with everything from my homework to washing my clothes to defending me from the neighborhood kids that had one score or the other to settle with me. Everyone who knew Obi knew his little sister because you never let me out of your sight. I remember your hand-me down trousers that we used to hold fast with a belt so they don’t fall off my waist. Back to your adventurous spirit: while growing up, you knew all the streets in Umuahia and explored all the surrounding villages on foot which got you the nickname “o ji ukwu aga Aba”, among us siblings. Now that I think about it, Obii, you were about 11 or 12years of age and completely fearless.

Nnam, you shared a story on my 50th birthday tribute about leaving me behind when a fierce dog chased after us on our way back from Dave Ekwedike’s house one fateful day. What you didn’t remember in that story is that while you ran, you kept urging me to run along. Your voice gave speed to my feet. That was exactly how I escaped the angry canine.

Now let’s talk about that crash in the summer of 1993, it was that same voice that called heaven and earth until my life returned. On opening my eyes, I saw a brother drenched in sweat from head to feet from praying and petitioning. It was undeniable that tremendous power had left you for the love of me. You held on and would not let go. Where do I commence to talk about the man, Obinna, whose essence are calm and power in the purest and most concentrated forms?

Thank you for being the kind of man that you are. A man of few words whose accomplishments speak eloquently wherever he treads. You work hard and always follow the path of honesty.

You are an inspiration to the world. You are full of faith, courage, and strength. You truly depict that the life of a great man is never lost because his influence transcends time. You have a heart that cares completely and a smile that brings so much pleasure. You give love that brings joy beyond measure. You are patient, loving, and eager to help at all times.

Obi dimples, Obi dimkpa, Obi handsome, many things have I held in my hands, and many have l lost: but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess. At every turning of my life, even now, there you are. So relieved to know that there are no good byes for us.

I use this avenue to thank all men and women of goodwill joining us and the great cloud of witnesses to celebrate the legendary life of the Venerable Obinna Ibezim, the valorous ecclesiastic of our time. Obii m, I love you dearly and celebrate you always with much love.

Nyi-nyi

Obii, In my opinion you didn’t have to go yet. The feeling that life has cheated us by taking you away from us so soon keeps replaying in my head. I know we have come to accept the universal understanding that we cannot question God; however, this is one instance I have ered. I have infact questioned the almighty repeatedly on your departure. Though I have since then asked for forgiveness, this may well be one of your first intercessory prayers on my behalf. I know you are presently in the presence of our creator.

As toddlers, I was proud to walk beside you as my immediate junior and proudly showing you off to new friends as my brother. Our father of blessed memory wanted both of us to serve in the lord's vineyard as priests. While I chickened out, you persevered and became a priest per excellence. You are of course, more courageous and a bigger and beer man than I am. Your accomplishments in the lord's vineyard stand tall.. Thank you for being a vessel of Christ. I’m convinced your soul is with God.

In life you verbalized and practiced agape love and will always occupy a special space in the deepest part of me. You’ve taught me so much except for one thing- how to best cope with your departure.

Through you, I learned the faithfulness of God. I also learnt the importance of cultivating and maintaining a relationship with God, even as a sinner. I thank God for blessing us with a brother like you. Thank you for allowing yourself to be used by God. I am sure you’re abiding in God’s presence today.

Usually, sadness is a common emotion when a loved one passes on Nevertheless, as we remember your dedicated ser vice to humanity, our fears and sorrows become joy. We know that God rewards those who diligently serve him, and you are resting in his bosom.

It is difficult to deal with the agony of losing a brother you care so much about and admire so much. As you would always call me "Nwannediuto". I have waited for days for that occasional call when you would reemphasize the sweetness of brotherhood.

Obii, you will remain in my heart through the rest of my journey on earth.

Rest on nwanne di uto m

With Love to My Celestial Being

Grief, an emotion that I have been forced to understand. The journey through grief is one where pain and beauty mingle. I am heartbroken, pained and angry because this situation is beyond my control, one that I can’t change. I am angry at the fact that life is about unpredictability, a series of long choices that God’s time and Fate makes for us without us knowing it, not knowing everything that could come your way be it good or bad, I guess that’s why we are humans if all is revealed to us then GOD would no longer be GOD. But in all the beauty of your memory I’ve chosen to accept that some things are out of my control. I’ve never been this confused in my life.

Death came early but I believe God is never late. I understand that GOD gives and GOD takes. When He gives you people love them as much as you can because one day He is going to want them back. Almighty father in heaven, I thank you not only because in every situation we ought to give you thanks and praise but for giving me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change and the wisdom to change the ones I can and also for giving me a father like daddy nke m nwere nani ya.

Dearest Daddy, I am thankful to God who gave you to me and you did everything within your power to make everyday count. You fought and prayed for yourself and for everyone else in your life and you’ve never lost so I’m convinced that whatever came must have been way powerful because you surrendered. How exactly am I supposed to begin this life without you? I have a lot of questions to ask.

On our way back from the village on Monday 10th April, the last time we had a conversation physically, you stressed on the reasons why I should have God’s kind of faith. Is this the part where God decides to test me? Is it in this situation that I need to practice Faith? Like I said earlier, I am confused.

I don’t need to state what your earthly life was like, it speaks for itself, between you and I, the father-daughter relationship was special. You said it, ‘I wouldn’t always be here but I’ll always love you’and I believed you because I’ve always trusted you. “Anything worth doing is worth doing well” the first life lesson you taught me. You had a golden heart, a smile that made all my worries vanish. I draw my strength from you because you raised your standard so high and that alone gave me motivations. Everything about your presence was so soothing and protective but there came a day when it all vanished and all of a sudden I feel bare and I feel nothing.

This feels like a nightmare I wish I can go back in time. You taught me that the proper way to live is to treasure time, each passing second as though there could be no more second left to pass after that but at the moment Time has become a funny thing to me especially when it keeps ticking away and yet I don’t see your calls or hear your car horn or even hear you call my name.

Adannaya

Ada bekee m.

Ada ga eletam woto woto.

Ada ga efe na elu.

Ada nke m nwere nani ya.

I haven’t heard you say this in a while and it breaks me. Is this what emptiness feels like?

And again it keeps ticking without consequence or empathy for those bound by it. Then again, in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 3, I am made to believe it holds so much meaning and purpose for everything including death. Again time heals, I hope I heal because the damage is so deep and I feel like I am drowning. Jeremiah 29 vs 11; I believe in God and his plans for Mummy, my siblings and I because He knows best. I pray with time God will reveal himself to me and clear all my doubt and confusions.

Dearest Daddy, I am proud to call you my father, you are the best. I am confident that God is proud to call you, His son. Too many times I said I am okay even when I’m not but you saw right through me and you will always find a way to get me to talk. It hurts that you are no longer here with me but I need you to keep watch over me because you are in my heart always and forever.

So, Daddy I am speechless now, what again can I say? ‘Goodbye’? Well, I can’t. I can’t say Goodbye because this one is forever but with the remaining pieces of my broken heart, I say THANK YOU!

Thank you for being the best Father and Friend.

Thank you for all your sacrifice, time, dedication and meaningful contributions in my Life.

Thank you for leading me to God and introducing me to my best friend Jesus.

Thank you for never underestimating me and for cherishing your family at large.

Thank you for teaching me the tangible realities of mortal life , the art of giving and what it actually means to be great and successful and most especially thank you for loving me and everything.

YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON!!!

I will see you again and like you’ve done; I’ll make good history both on earth and hopefully in heaven before I too become history. Thank you for never underestimating me and for cherishing your family at large.

I LOVE YOU DADDY AND I WILL MAKE YOU PROUD.

Tribute to my Daddy

Daddy, I’m writing this with the hope that you would at least give me feedback. I never thought I would have to write this, at least not so soon but God’s time is beyond our understanding.

There is no expression that can do justice to how I feel. Nothing will ever fill this hole. The pain is unimaginable, but I have consolation knowing the faith you believed, taught, and brought us up in; that death and grief is only of this earth and there is eternal joy at the end. As we are only remembered in this world by our works, I can only say that the memory of you is not going away any time soon. You had a unique relationship with everyone you encountered.

You went out of your way to show love anywhere you thought love needed to be shown. You tended to the church as a shepherd tends his lamb. You nurtured us like little flowers and at the same time being the strong stem that kept us upright. I would never be able to repay you for all the sacrifices you made for us. We would not be where we are today without you, and I am sure a lot of people owe their success stories to you. I celebrate the life you lived because it was a perfect guide to navigate this world. I look back and all I can say is Daddy, THANK YOU.

Life is a gift from God to the person who lived and those they lived for. You were truly God’s gift to us. You brought joy, light and laughter wherever you went. You once said, “Wisdom is to know God and to serve him” and what better example than the one you set for us. Of all the things I am proud of, I am proudest that I get to tell people that you are my father.

Daddy Lives On!

Tribute to an exemplary father

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Our hearts still ache in sadness. For what it means to lose you no one will ever know. Daddy, we miss you.

Our father was always there for our mother, and they shared everything life could offer together. They were a great team supporting each other in every possible way as well as being there for their children. Our silent tears will flow each time we remember that you’re gone but your loving, caring, fatherly role and legacy will continue to give solace to our humble hearts. The morals and values you taught us will continue to be a guiding light in our lives. We will try our very best to live by the righteous virtues you’ve raised us with. We will always remember that charming smile of yours, that caring heart, and most importantly, the life lesson that ‘family is key’ and to always stay together through thick and thin, and to support, love and respect each other. This is indeed a painful loss, but since it has pleased the Lord, we believe that he will console all of us. DANIELIBEZIM (Opara nna ya) We are incredibly grateful to have spent our lives with you. You were a fighter. You fought this battle of life so well until you could fight no more because it was time. Daddy, we are proud of you and the life you lived and we will forever be proud of you. We will surely miss you. We will cherish every memory of you. We will remember your Godly examples; we will strive to emulate these examples. We all love you but your maker loves you the most. This is indeed a painful loss, but since it has pleased the Lord, we believe that he will console all of us.

I know that you are in a better place. God be with you till we meet again.

TRIBUTE TO MY SOULMATE

It was Ian Watts who wrote these profound words in his classical hymn contained in Ancient and Modern 165. “Time like an ever-rolling stream, bears all its son away; they fly forgotten as a dream dies at the opening day” Nwokeoma, you just varnished from my eyes and melted away from my warm embrace.

Writing a tribute to you at this point in our lives together is very difficult and unbearable to say the least. I didn’t dream about it and I didn’t see it coming. It all seems like a night mare that I’m still waiting to wake up from. Honey! Nwoke oma! Where are you? Obi i! where have you gone to? My tears and my cry, which steers your emotions no longer move you. For real? This is unbelievable and unimaginable.

God gave you to me as a gift. You loved me passionately and gave me the name JEWEL prior to our wedding. You cared so much for the children and I. You made sure we lacked nothing good that you can provide and you defended and shielded us from dangers and assaults. You inspired us to become the best in life and encouraged us to work hard and be diligent in our service to God and humanity. You taught us to be kind and make positive impact in the lives of people as much as we can. You came into my maiden home and extended the love you had for me to my siblings and parents. You cared for them like you would care for your own parents and siblings.

You are not only a husband to me, but my companion, confidant, counselor, teacher, friend and soul mate. You are kind, calm, humble, humane, honest, sincere and super caring. You are very quick to apologize even when you are not at fault. You didn’t judge me for my misdeeds rather you take delight in gentle correction. Taking me to work and school became a hobby for you and you taught me to see great possibility in every impossibility. You brought me into the vineyard of God and taught me everything I needed to know. You gave me a wonderful platform to serve God and encouraged me to do that with sincerity of purpose and excellence bearing in mind that God is the one that rewards our good deeds. You encouraged me to take bold steps in life and not to be afraid of failure as they could be raw materials for success. You remained my strength and will always say to me “ Nnem jisie ike”

Listening to your sermons was soul reviving and I looked forward to that each time it was your turn. You expounded the Holy Writ in such a way that it made so much meaning to my little mind. You had the mastery of cooking and your yam porridge and stew were second to none. You believed so much in me no wonder you stopped at nothing investing in me. If I had started pursuing my dreams when you encouraged me to, I would have become a consultant by now. But I remain grateful to you for the person I have become. I dedicate my MBBS certificate to you. This victory, when accomplished, is for you, My Love.

What we shared was beyond human comprehension that is why I still look forward to seeing you again. We had a high and low moment but we cherished it together and moved on. I didn’t know that life could be this empty and worthless. I didn’t know that day time can suddenly become night time without any signal. Honey, I know you will come back if not now then later. I still see you smiling at me with those dimples at your checks. I still hear your calm and gentle and soothing voice calling me Nwanyi oma! Nnem oma! Honey! Oyoyom! Life without you is unimaginable. Will these tears ever stop flowing? Will this pain ever leave? The vacuum is much. Yes, the tears may never stop flowing. I take solace in the fact that you now live in me. I see your grace and strength in Daniel, your doggedness, charming and adoring smile in Michael, your prayer life and faith in God in Prisca. You live on My Love, you live on. You made it to heaven and I have no doubt because your life was well lived. You made a positive impact on every soul that came across you. You are a Priest with a difference, an erudite scholar a prolific writer and a wonderful teacher. You had words and wise counsel for every situation. You followed peace with all men because you were peaceful.

My PERFECT GENTLEMAN, missing you is an understatement. God is still God. I choose to trust Him since this is His PERFECT WILL. I’m glad that I stopped at nothing lavishing my love on you. I loved you so much and will always do.

Rest on Honey! By the help of God, I will keep the banner unfurled. I will always love and cherish you because you live on. You are now my guardian Angel.

Love you loads.

Your Jewel of inestimable value.

MAN OF GOD

Man of God...my MOG as I call you. I just called your phone and it rang, as it was ringing, I was praying you would answer on the other side and call me MARTOO as you usually do...And we will talk and pray. But it was your Wife that picked up. So here I am hoping you will call me back, when you return from your meeting with Christ Jesus. You are and will always remain my big brother, my interceder, my MOG. I don't even know what to do, tears flow freely from my eyes as I type this. But am consoled that your meeting with God will yell fruits for all that you love, because you always looking out for everyone. You were my guardian angel and will always be. SLEEPING, NOT DEAD.

Daddy Ibezim as I fondly call you; you were to me, a Father, Adviser Teacher, Mentor, an encourager, a Priest of God in the rank of an Archdeacon, and a seasoned child of God. You had good thoughts for me.

I wish you were still alive physically. A man of sterling qualities; your words were full of grace and encouragement. You touched the life of so many, encouraged the weak hearted and firmly supported the feeble mind; You were a beckon of light to many, a role model.

You treated all equally, the rich and the poor. Your understanding of the scripture and manner in which you taught and preached were captivating and outstanding, Your smiles so infectious and contagious. All those who were privileged to come near could easily attest.

Venerable Ibezim, your life on earth may have been brief but impactful. You fought the good fight, kept the faith and finished strong. The Lord your God shall give you the crown of righteousness. Your words continue to ring bell in my heart; "It is not the manner in which one died but the life lived". You were aware of what was coming though; you never wished to inform anyone. As painful as it was, yet you submitted to the will of your creator. You have translated to eternity where there is no sorrow, no pain. Your good works and services shall go before you. Though you are dead, you are still alive. For in Christ, nothing shall separate us, No! Not even death.

Sleep on gallant soldier of Christ!

Sleep on my father!!

Sleep on my Role Model!!!

We shall behold your ever smiling face in eternity.

TRIBUTE TO AN INCREDIBLE DADDY

To pen down a tribute to You DADDY is the most perilous thing I have ever got to do all my life, words can hardly suffice. Silently and soberly I have wondered why? Why do you have to go and why now?

The futility is eye watering, Daddy without hesitation you could give up anything for people, you care for all, there are many things that you will be remembered for. You were an embodiment of peace, love care, tolerance and humility. A hard working man of faith, a man of truth, a man of value, a man of integrity and wealth of knowledge.

With tears in my eyes, with pains in my heart and with sorrows in my life, it is indeed painful to tell the world that I have lost my second DADDY.

In John 11vs44, Jesus demonstrated his power of resurrection in the life of his friend Lazarus. Yes, you are still God today, tomorrow and forever you can do something in the life of our daddy, when Jesus got to Lazarus he specifically called His name and the dead man came forth, please God call our daddy to come forth. I am so pained I wish I could do anything to make you live some more.

This is really heart breaking but all I can say is rest well in the bosom of the lord DADDY.

Tribute to a great Daddy

Daddy, I received the news of your death with shock. The 14th day of April, 2023 should not rejoice with other days of this year because it brought nothing good for us. Dad, you were kind, caring, friendly and accommodating. How can I forget the 25th day of May, 2014 the day I took my first Bible lesson, after service you blessed me, prayed for me and told my parents I would be great and that I would be a priest of which I accepted with faith. My consolation is in "Psalms 116:15" "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints". It is a privilege to know you and the honor is mine. In the words of Awonoor- Williams "Death has made war upon our house. The things so great that I cannot weep. My right arm is broken. The firewood of this life is for only those who can take heart". Rest in the Bossom of the Lord till we meet to part no more.

People's Venerable

Late Venerable Obinna Ibezim. He was the People's Venerable. Ezeoke people, should know that Death awaits everyone. They should endure. The Aba Diocesan Bishop, the Lord shall strengthen him. Obinna, was a good English teacher and he and all that knew him must miss the system by which he impacted wisdom and knowledge to those who came to him. Obinna was a gentle Christian Priest. Thank God, preferment never got into his head.

A gentle Christian Priest is indeed gone to be with his Christ, who he loved and served till Death. The wife and kids must not forget that. God is indeed the Father and Husband of Father less.

When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my Lots, thou hast taught me to say it is well with my soul. For the enemy came to steal, to kill, and to destroy, but you came that we may have life and have it more abundantly...Too hard to say goodbye daddy...Rest in peace and Rise in glory...

TRIBUTE TO MY SPIRITUAL FATHER, VEN. DR. OBINNA D. C. IBEZIM. GREATLY LOVED; DEEPLY MISSED

“There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even after they are gone" - D. Morgan Daddy, writing a tribute for you at this time is the most unexpected thing and a very difficult task to do. This tribute, probably, may have been among the very last to be submitted. This is occasioned by the fact that I feel drained of both physical and mental energy to do just that. Truly, I am bereft of words to write a befitting tribute to you considering your towering yet noiseless qualities. Daddy, you represented the finest of priesthood. You were an epitome of godliness. In you we saw a clear confluence of dignity, quality and purity. You were a paragon of humility, an emblem of ministerial integrity, a capstone of selflessness and a citadel of wisdom yet you bore all these with godly disposition. With your towering academic heights, your enviable ecclesiastical positions, your very wealthy and noble family background and your very unique privileges in life, you never for once made anyone of us to feel inferior before you. The least amongst us always felt valued, encouraged and motivated in your presence. Daddy, the truth is that you were our best. Oh, what a world! We lost our best. To me and many others, you were a father and will forever be. You were an encourager, a helper, a role model and a mentor. My ministry, especially within the Anglican Communion, wouldn't have happened without you. You yielded yourself to God and became instrumental in rediscovering my ministerial calling in the Anglican Church and challenging me to always wake up the greatness within me. Indisputably, you supplied a very great quantity of the colors with which my life and ministry has been thus beautified. Daddy, I had expected a day would have come when you would be celebrating some great anniversaries, so that I could demonstrate in visible ways how much I have loved and valued you. Yes, I had for a long time accommodated in my heart the thought of a rare and unique opportunity when and where I would tell the world of your great input in my life and ministry. But unfortunately, these will no longer happen the way I had thought them. Hearing the news of your death was quite disheartening, unexpected and a rude shock. To say the least, it broke my heart. Adaoma, my wife, still believes you will just wake up from this drama. Social media space is currently filled with so many pranks, and how I wish this news of your death was a prank and not a reality. Daddy, God is omnipotent and omniscient. He reigns over the affairs on earth. We won't question Him on what He does or allows. However, I must confess that I had tendered to God my humble submission that this death didn't fit you and shouldn't have been yours. Yes it shouldn't have been you. It shouldn't have been now. It shouldn't have been this way. The Scripture has admonished that "In all things we give thanks". I give God thanks not because you are dead but because you lived and still lives. I give God thanks because He gave you to us and allowed you touch my life with your love. You were one of the best things that happened to me. You may be gone, but you have not left my heart. Yourlife was a blessing. Your memory will remain a treasure. Your wife, your Jewel, our beloved mother will be fine because God will comfort her and always be with her. Your three seeds - Michael, Daniel and Prisca - will do exploits in life. God will remain their strength. The light you lit in me will forever shine. And your imprints and impacts in me will remain visible and undeniable. Adieu Daddy Adieu Father Adieu Mentor Adieu Gallant Soldier of Christ. It is very hard to say Goodbye. Sleep on and take your rest. You are greatly loved and will be deeply missed. With tears,

A TRIBUTE TO AN ANGEL IN HEAVEN

The news of your death came as a shock to me, I always believed you will live life to the fullest, little did I know that there was a sad reality ahead. You were a man of wisdom and truth and you were known to always show love to people around you. I am grateful that in this life, I had the opportunity to call you father and I count it as one of my biggest blessings received from God. You always stood up for me and made sure I did the right things. You never looked down on my abilities but you always encouraged me and had so much faith in me and this sincerely has driven me to achieve much more than I taught I will ever be. It could appear that you are gone but I just want to let you know that the zeal and discipline you've planted in me will always keep growing to never without and you will forever live in our hearts.

It's a cruel world, I would have loved to have you around even for much longer, but I guess it's time you had a peaceful rest. I will never forget what you've taught me, that patience yields success. I promise to make you proud, just as you always made me proud. The memories of you, which I have and shared will remain a living existence.

Goodnight my Angel

Rest in peace Dad.

A tribute to a Father and Mentor

Drawing selective inspirations from a poem by Russell Kelfer: You were who you were for a reason You were part of an intricate plan You were a precious and perfect unique design Called God's special man You looked like you did for a reason Our God made no mistake He knit you together within the womb You were just what He wanted to make The parents you had were the ones He chose You were custom- designed with God's plan in mind And you bore the master's seal. INDEED, GOD MADE NO MISTAKE, YOU WERE JUST WHAT HE WANTED TO MAKE!

Daddy, the news of your death came with a deep wound to my heart. Your life was in tandem with the life of Christ whom you preached. This could be seen in your disposition, humility, fatherhood, words, etc. One thing I won't forget is that you achieved a lot but you were not drumming for the praises of men but you sought the praise of God. You overcame by the blood of the lamb and by the words of your testimony. It is my prayer that God would grant us the grace and comfort of the blessed Holy Spirit even in this period and beyond. Rest on thou gallant soldier of the cross. God is faithful.

Tribute to VEN. DR. OBINNA IBEZIM (A GALANT SOLDIER)

It is with heaviness of heart that we mourn the death of a great man of God, widely and highly respected. A church man, preacher of the gospel, an epitome of humility and generosity. You were an inspiration to many who came close to you. Your passing unto glory is a reminder of the word of God in (Job 14 vs 1&2), “Man born of a women is of few days and full of trouble. He springs up like a flower and withers away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure”. We are therefore consoled by your legacies and exemplary Christian life, religiously guided by the great moral lessons of Jesus Christ filled with stewardship and mentorship which you left on the sand of time. Indeed, you have run a good race, fought a good fight and the crown awaits you. Rest in peace, till we meet to part no more.

A Tribute to my BELOVED BROTHER-IN-LAW

Death is an inevitable part of life that makes us question our purpose in life. Our Angel here on earth and now in Heaven, Dee Obii, Ven. Dr D.O.C Ibezim, you accomplished a lot spiritually, physically and professionally in such a short me to prove to us that you understood what your purpose on earth was. I take solace in knowing how well you lived and where you have gone to. Despite the pain and the unavoidable tears that drop knowing I will not see you again on earth, I still remember you with smiles because you were not one for tears. Right from the day you came to my family to marry my sister, you came like a Messiah in every aspect of our lives. You cared, you prayed, you encouraged, you nurtured, you helped, you loved..., and you seem to have a solution to every problem, with you no hope is lost, and there is always a way out. You touched so many lives with your peaceful, kind, caring and loving nature.

Ven Ibezim, you were truly a rare gem. Thank you for teaching us what it means to be a Chrisan, thank you for showing us how a Chrisan family and marriage should be. Thank you for all you did for my family and me, thank you for caring for Ebere and Ugoo for 2 years and they even forgot you were not their biological father. Last summer holiday, we were all together and you gave us exceptional love and care, not knowing you were creating memories for us.

Dee Obii, you may be gone physically, but as long as there is memory, you will never be forgotten. You are never gone forever; you live in our hearts. We loved you well, but God loves you best. Until the resurrection morning, sleep well NNUKWU UKOCHUKWU!

Tribute to my dear Brother in-law

I have found it very difficult to bring myself to write this. The harsh reality that you are gone is hard for me to accept. The grief of your sudden exit will hang like a dark cloud over hearts, but we take solace in the fact that the wonderful tenets the shaped your exemplary life shall continue to be a gold standard for all who knew or associated with you. Unfortunately, good things do not last forever. Our loss is Heaven’s gain, who are we, mere mortals to question the will of the Almighty. We have lost a loving brother, a wise counsellor, a spirit- filled Man of God and a teacher par excellence. though we say goodbye but to your loved ones, it is only a pause in the journey of our destiny as you will never really be far from our hearts. How can we ever forget how You took on other people’s burden like it was yours without eighter expecting or accepting any rewards and when we sought your wise counsel, you led like a patron saint. The Holy book says that we are just vapor that appear for a little while and then vanish away. The exemplary life you lived, signed your name across our hearts. We pray that the Good Lord will grant Nneka the fortitude to bear the huge loss. Dan, Mike and Prisca, be consoled for God will be the cornerstone in our moment of grief. A Husband and a father’s love surpasses death and lives on forever. Obi, the stars seem dim without you. Though saying goodbye feels so painful, your wonderful memory lingers forever in our souls.

Dear Obi,

I still can’t bear the reality that you are no longer on earth.

A Mentor And Father

It is with utmost discomfort and displeasure that I write this condolence message.

This news came as a great shock to me and many others whose life have been greatly and positively imparted upon by VEN OBINNA IBEZIM. He was a man who dedicated his life to helping others and making the world a beer place.

I remember the song he sings every Easter which turned out to be a song sang during our family prayers. “Hosanna Diri Eze Di Ebube”

I remember when you handed Mummy Ibezim over to me to take care of her in school and I was wondering “how”. It’s so heartbreaking that we are almost at the end of our journey in school and you are not here to witness it.

You played the role of a father and mentor, helping me address various issues of life. Sadly, we cannot queson God but this sad news le me with a queson, could there be a remedy for death?

My thoughts are with the Ibezim’s in this difficult me. With tears streaming down my face, I know you will find rest in the bosom of the Lord. You are dearly missed; Yes, you are!

OBIOCHA misses you and greatly loves you!

Farewell Daddy Ibezim Onyeoma, Nna onyeoma.

TRIBUTE TO DR. DAVID OBINNA IBEZIM

My heart broke when I heard my dearest cousin’s sudden departure, but I know that death did not catch him unaware, the Lord took him home. I know if we could ask him to come back to us, to come back to his wife and children he would say “No” because he is in the bosom of Jesus, the lover of his soul. He is in heaven. “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints,” says Psalm 116:15 (ESV). “The LORD cares deeply when his loved ones die.” Obi, as I fondly called him when he was vising West Palm Beach Florida was a lover of God and a lover of mankind. He was God’s servant- kind, gentle, compassionate, humble, very resourceful, and a fisher of men. He had a way of reaching people for the kingdom without verbosity. He has ministered to many, including vising the prisons in Florida to preach the gospel in the most simplified oratory that the captives whose souls were imprisoned were set free, giving their lives to Jesus. He knew his purpose in life and he was focused on his purpose her on earth, he accomplished everything he set out to do and God blessed him. He was a blessed man. He loved his wife and children, he was a great provider, husband, and father. He loved his family- brothers and sisters and relatives. He loved this community. When he was younger, he could not walk- The Lord miraculously healed him, and he took up his mantle to walk the earth spreading the good news of the Gospel. This community has lost a great man who humbly served in the community and in the Church. But, remember he belongs to God and God has called him home to join the great cloud of witnesses in heaven. Thank you and Good bless you all.

A TRIBUTE TO OUR BELOVED SON AND BROTHER INLAW VEN. DR. OBINNA IBEZIM

What can be said for a life well lived in devotion and service to God and his neighbor? Dr. Obinna Ibezim is such a man who perfected his faith and reverence for God in speech and in deeds. With sincerity in his expressions, he lived and walked in love and truth, before God and man. He easily inspires others to strengthen their own faith in God and to follow the straight and narrow path with body, mind and spirit. I pray that the shining light of his good example and life’s work shall turn many inward in reflection to strengthen their devotion and faith in God and in service as they increase their good deeds in the world while caring for one another.

What can be said for a life well lived in devotion and service to God? Our beloved brother, Obinna Ibezim, is faithful, loving, true, and with a willing and obedient heart, he served both God and his neighbor well.

Gone from our sight and yet ever in our hearts and in Heaven. May his soul rest in perfect peace with God, Amen.

TRIBUTE TO A WELL-BELOVED COLLEAGUE

An Igbo adage has this to say “There are many leaves in the bush and one is chosen known as”. Ven. Obinna Ibezim is like that to me. When Ven. Obinna and his wife came to Aba Diocese to serve under Archbishop Ugochukwu Ezuoke he indicated his deep interest to move along with me as a friend and brother. To prove his decision he asked of my skull cap for his collation as Archdeacon. You know what this could mean knowing quite well that he could get the best for himself even from abroad at all cost. This brought us together in a very special way. We had special respect for each other. We shared a common vision in the ministry. No wonder he ranks second to me in order of priestly seniority. Ven Obinna Ibezim has a lot to impact on anyone privileged to come across him. He is so open to dish out knowledge and experience to anyone at anytime. He loves and is loveable. He is a good teacher. He is eloquent with inspiring words and messages to retain and sustain his audience. He is brilliant and intelligent. He is a well-groomed Churchman. He loves the church of God with great passion. He loves the Divine ministry more than any other vocation. We shall miss him as a rear gem. Brother Obinna your memories shall never disappear. Your remembrance shall ever be.

Adieu gentleman to the core.

Adieu great man of God.

Adieu great Church builder.

Adieu our great Scholar.

Adieu Brother and Friend.

TRIBUTE TO A RARE GEM

MY FATHER, MY FATHER, THE CHARIOTS OF ISRAEL AN THE HORSEMEN THEREOF!!!!!!!! Things has fallen apart, and the center cannot hold again. The mirror has broken, it cannot be gathered together again. A mighty tree has fallen, A rare gem is gone, A pillar has been uprooted. To think of myself or my wife penning down something to you and more so, a tribute by this me of the day is a hard pill to swallow. This is the most devastating and heart-breaking news of the century. We have been eagerly waiting for your return to no avail. The pain and shock is unbearable. I shouted blood of Jesus on hearing the news thinking that it was just an accident without realizing that my father, mentor; elder brother and my role model is gone. Where do I start from? It is difficult to understand the emptiness and loss we feel. Did heaven look on? My wife, children and entire family is heart broken. Daddy, you are one in a million, you were many things to many people, your kindness and fatherly love affected many and will continue to be evident even without your physical presence. In you we find a perfect roadmap and compass to a successful ministry. When Shakespeare said “when a great man dies, the earth and heaven roars”. It is an understatement as no amount of words, tributes, will be used to equate the deeds and good legacy you left behind. We recall with sweet reminisces our pastoral work with daddy between 2014 -2018 when he was the archdeacon of ogbor hill archdeaconry in Aba diocese. You took it upon yourself to put us on wheels in this ministry. In daddy Ibezim, I and my wife found a Godly man, a gentleman in whom there was no guile, a man who can proudly hold up his head when others are losing theirs. A simple, Godly, happy, focused and peaceful man with a deep feeling of contentment. You lived a holy life, a life of sacrifice and self denial to the extent that you denied yourself approved and legitimate entitlement due to you. Your presence and soothing words made a whole lot of difference in so many situations. We are so confused and heartbroken about your demise together with my wife and children especially my last born NINA your Goddaughter who wept like an adult as if she knew what death is all about. Our consolation is that you are now in God’s love, where there is no curse, accident, no rejection, no tears, no sorrows and no pains. We bid you farewell until the resurrection morning: Adieu Daddy and Bon Voyage!.

May your peace-loving soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Tribute to my Priest and mentor Ven. Dr. Obinna Ibezim

In the afternoon of April, 14 2023 I received the most devastating call ever that you had an accident. My Priest, my confidant and friend, my mentor Ven. Dr. OBINNA DAVID CHUKWUDINMA IBEZIM who hugely shaped my view on life, marriage, business and many other things, has passed away. I’m yet to meet someone as equally impressive, smart and grounded as my mentor, you carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. Alegacy is etched into the minds of all that knew you and the stories they share about you shows you are a hero of priesthood "I hope that everyone, when such people cross their paths, never take people like my mentor for granted. I certainly never did, and never will. My family will miss you.

Ven. Dr. Obinna Ibezim. Knowingly passing on!

Air and earth we are.

Air be life, earth be body.

Life is soul and spirit.

Body is earth and dearth.

Death of dearth and earth.

Airs, all life, soul and spirit.

A dash, sprint, or marathon.

All life must match on.

All who are done, move on.

You, I ,who, Next one.?

Knowingly the known know.

Obi, knew the known.

Though the me unknown.

He knew, readied, his own.

Eternity he often beamed.

Stirred oft so his soul.

Many a talent, dimmed.

That eternity be sole.

So with muse dimples gone.

Prayers and counsel done.

Fret and fright be borne.

Or, family and friends adorn.

Then, with the rains refresh.

Our souls and spirit, afresh.

Yet soon to eternity haste.

So no Air or body waste.

Plough earth and its dearth.

Know to yield, Air and death.

TRIBUTE TO MY DEAREST UNCLE OBI

Two days after my wedding, I got the shocker of my life, Uncle Obi, I’m yet to come to terms with your sudden transition to glory. Uncle you lived a life worthy of emulating, you were more than a priest, purest in heart, your presence alone was peace and calm, how I'll miss your prayers, my siblings and I often talked about how we enjoyed hearing you pray and wished you wouldn't stop. Ah! Uncle nke'm, does it mean that we won't hear your voice again??? Uncle, but I wanted you to meet my husband and also bless our marriage. I told him how you remind me of don moen for some reasons. I told him that you are an angel in human form. Uncle, I can give anything to bring you back to us. You were a cheerful giver who gave not because you had plenty but because it was in your nature to give. My dear uncle I am so c proud to be called your niece, and I thank God for blessing me with the best uncle literally anyone could ask for.

Thank you so much Uncle Obii for being a blessing to all of us. I never ever in my wildest dream thought I'll be writing this kind of tribute, but who are we to question God. My only consolation is that you are in heaven singing with the angels. We love you so much uncle’m.

Please give mama and papa a big hug for us. Till we meet again on the resurrection day.

YOU ARE GONE, BUT YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON

Words truly cannot express how I feel about your sudden demise from this wicked world. It is indeed like a dream that I hope to wake up from when I heard of your departure from this cruel earth through a ghastly motor accident.

You had an unusual way of touching issue where they mattered most and did it with such finesse that it was clear what outcomes you were seeking to explain.

It is indeed sad that we have had to lose you at your prime but we take solace in the fact that your good works will never be erased; Rest in Peace, Ven. O.D.C.

You are a rare Man of God, humble, uncommon and intelligent priest badly needed to continuously preach the undiluted word of God in His Vineyard.

Adieu my friend, we love you, but God loves you more. Ven.

TRIBUTE TO MY COUSIN

Obi, I received with rude shock the news of your sudden departure. You have made an impact on your generation. You have left indelible footprints on the sands of time. We are not happy that you have left as a young man. As St Paul said, in 2 Tim. 4:6-8, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith; there is laid up for you the crown of righteousness. You worked very hard to maintain your family and you were a dedicated laborer in God's vineyard. Rest in peace in the Lord; Goodbye until we meet to part no more. Shalom.

Your Cousin,

Pastor Godwin O. Ibezim.

Uncle Obi, till now I still find it so hard, so so hard to believe that you are gone! How! I am still in doubt! My amazing Uncle, I really miss you. TRIBUTE TO A SERVANT OF GOD

1. Fading away like the stars of the morning,

Losing their light in the glorious sun—-

Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,

Only remembered by what we have done.

Only remembered, only remembered,

Only remembered by what we have done ;

Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,

Only remembered by what we have done.

2. Shall we be missed, though by others succeeded,

Reaping the fields we in spring-me have sown?

Yes, but the sowers must pass from their labors,

Ever remembered by what they have done.

3. Only the truth that in life we have spoken,

Only the seed that on earth we have sown;

These shall pass onward when we are forgotten,

Fruits of the harvest and what we have done.

4. Oh, when the Saviour shall make up His jewels,

When the bright crowns of rejoicing are won,

Then shall His weary and faithful disciples

All be remembered by what they have done.

I woke up with this song on the last day of submitting this tribute and I felt this is the best way to mourn your demise! Rudest shock ever, still speechless, but I take solace only in the lord! I will never mourn like an unbeliever. God is still God, ever Faithful, ever sure!

Bro Obi, KEEP RESTING IN THE BOSOM OF THE LORD!

Tribute to my BELOVED BROTHER

I’ve been inflicted with a wound so deep, with a I difficult scar to erase. What then shall I say? I am heartbroken, shattered, disorganized and disconsolate. A brother whose love is unimaginable, very empathetic, kind hearted, compassionate and always ready to assist in time of need. My humble, amiable, soft-spoken gentle man. Where are you Obii? I've wailed, wailed and still wailing trying to call you back but couldn't. What then shall i do but to accept this fate that is so difficult to accept. As a servant of the most high, you had done so well in the eyes of men and above all in the eyes of God your creator before embarking on this trip that ended the way it did. You had an outstanding personality that endeared you to everyone. God your creator loves you. You will be missed by us all your siblings and family, the different churches of God where you served will miss you, St Paul's cathedral Ezeoke will miss you, your friends will miss you and your community as a whole will miss you.

Rest in the bossom of God your creator, till we meet. Your sister,

TRIBUTE TO MY DARLING BROTHER

I found it very difficult to write this piece in morbid honor and remembrance of my baby I brother, whom I fondly called “Obi dimkpa”! Come to think of it, I can hardly remember why or when I began to call him “Obi dimkpa”.

However, one thing is sure. Such appellation must have been inspired by his spirit of maturity and over-performance, which placed him for above his age mates and peers! We shared a lot in common, a common literary and spiritual zeal and zest. You were cerebral, as much as I have been, and I am happy that I encouraged you to work and achieve the enviable academic feat that you achieved in research and publications. Oh, what a pain that death came when you were about ready to reap the fruits of both your academic and ecclesiastical endeavors. No regrets you may say and I cannot but agree with you: “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity” (Ecclesiastes 1:2).

Fare thee well beloved “Obi dimkpa”, until we meet in Heaven to part no more!! According to a sage “Death is a dream in a bigger dream”, and we shall all wake up in eternity, bye and bye. For now, you live on in our hearts and in the hearts of all that you have impacted.
