The Exit of a Mother General

The news of the death may be stale, the funeral may be long gone but the memories of the times spent with you remain indellible. Mma, you were a mother to all. I recall working with you during the 2016 Youth Camp Meeting of Global Youth Foundation (GYF). You stayed up late into the nights and ensured all the participants had eaten and gone to sleep, yet you were the first to wake up and hit the kitchen.

I recall your words to me few days before I proceeded to the Nigeria Law School "Junior, you would soon be a lawyer, please make sure you make a difference and never leave God. He will guide you always" That conversation little did I expect, was my last physical conversation with you.

We do not keep mourning, but your legacies especially those built into your daughters keep the memories coming. We would continue to remember you fondly.

Sleep on Mother General!

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

I am writing on behalf of my family to express my heartfelt sympathy over the death of your wife Mrs. Nnenna Job Idam. She has created a vacuum which is not easy to replace.

If death is a physical object, many of our colleagues would have rallied around you to struggled her from the hands of death. Unfortunately, death is mystery which the almighty God use of confound the understanding of man.

No man can tell the distance between life and death.

William Shakespeare, in one of his writings said, “the world is a stage where everyone come and perform.”

But a bible write sum it up thus: “THERE IS A TIME FOR EVERYTHING AND A SEASON FOR EVERY ACTIVITY UNDER HEAVEN, A TIME TO BE BORN AND A TIME TO DIE”. ECCL. 3: 1-2.

We mourn with you and weep with you. But remember the promise of God.

“Marvel not at this, the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth”. John 5:28-29

Weep not as the unbeliever but be strong in the lord.

Thanks.

TRIBUTE TO A GREAT SCRIPTURE UNION MOTHER

It is with a deep sense of personal loss that we, the Classical Old Students Association (COSA) wish to commiserate with the entire members of the Idam Family on the passing of Late Mrs. Nnenna Idam.

On behalf of COSA, we convey our heartfelt condolences, prayers and solidarity at this difficult moment.

Mrs. Idam was someone we knew personally as she was our Scripture Union Teacher at the Master's Vessel Classical Academy, Umuahia, Abia State. Every Sunday at 4pm, we gathered at the Chapel to listen to her teach the undiluted word of God - this she did with so much grace and calm and love. She made Christianity so easy for little children like us. She led us to JESUS.

But she was not only our Scripture Union Teacher, she was more than that. She was our Mother. Her contributions to our personal development were profound, authentic, unique and incisive. She was filled with laughter, warmed up to us and had a very beautiful homely personality such that we were no longer listening to THE SCRIPTURE UNION TEACHER but to A MOTHER. OUR MOTHER.

Most of us still hum the songs she taught us. It is because of her that we left Classical Academy with high Christian and Moral values.

The Death of Mrs. Idam is painful, especially as she left behind a family, but we can draw solace that she lived a very Holy and Righteous Life.

Her teachings, stories and songs will continue to linger in our memory and serve as a source of inspiration. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time as you mourn your mother.

We pray that God grants you the Fortitude to bear this loss.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. May his name be praised.

May the gentle soul of the righteous departed rest in perfect peace.

GONE BUT STILL FELT

We live today and tomorrow we die what is the meaning of life?

Maama I still can't believe that you are gone because I still feel you around. Your voice still rings in my ear like we are talking to each other physically. I still here you calling out "Nna m, Maazi m, Emma nwa m, Ete, Nwoke Olokoro, Dee mu o". You took me in like a son, gave me advice a mother will give her son. You were always there for me and reminded me all the time the importance and benefits of living a godly life. You were a beacon of hope to many especially the downtrodden, you helped those in need and never supported evil, an advocate of peace, justice and fairness. You never declined helping people because other people's happiness was more important to you than your own happiness, a selfless human being that was you, your type is rare to find. Although you are no longer with us physically, we still feel you around us. We would have loved for you to stay with us more but the Almighty has said it is time for you to rest and I know you are resting in his bossom. Rest on mummy till we meet to part no more.

Adieu!

To a Virtuous Woman (my G.Mum)

Mummy, you called me MEME and later graduated to calling me MEMERISTIC. I always loved the excitement in your voice anytime you called me. Every children's day you'll call me. I was part of your daughters. I called you my G.Mum (God-Mother) you always stood up for me and was ready to sacrifice anything. I remember you visiting one of the times I was sick, you left everything else and made sure I was better before you left.

its hard to believe you are with our father and are resting. But one thing is certain- we will meet again and will hear you call me MEME again. You are indeed a virtuous woman.

keep resting mummy.

A LIFE WELL SPENT

I thought I will never write this tribute, but keeping it longer than this never helped the understanding in my heart that its quite untimely to write this tribute to a dearest big sister
I grew up to know you as my eldest sister. And you lived up to all responsibilities attached to this, I will always remember your soft spoken words. I will recall it to mind that beautiful day you came to me, and said its time for me to give my life to Christ and you took me to full gospel business men fellowship and I gave my life to Christ.
Thank you so much and I know that God will surely reward you for leading me to Christ. I will surely miss your matured attitude in handling any case I ever had with you, because every little misunderstanding with you must be dialogued out.
You showcased Gods love to us as siblings. Always trying to protect our interests especially in my children's lives, you took care of them and showed them that nothing is impossible, big mummy as they called you has faith in God. No wonder two days before your demise you called me and told me that you're going to stress no more and that you'll be resting but I still didn't understand that you were talking about this great journey. I always rely on your longevity phrase, "that I will be very old and not in a hurry to die". All the same I thank God for a life well spent, but it not good enough to say goodnight, its too painful sister.
Rest in the peace that passes all understanding till we meet to part no-more

Rest Well Ma

Sister, writing this Tribute is like singing the Lords song in a foreign land, but I have to do it. Grandma, as I used to call you, you did not do "well" by leaving at this crucial time that we need you most, since I heard from my wife of your departure I refused to believe and not bold enough to call "08032630690 will I ever receive calls from this number" it got too late to say my condolence to Uncle Job just because I don’t want to believe, but I just have to. Sister you took me as your Son, since 1997 when I first met you. You approved my interest on your junior sister Ogbonne to be my wife even not considering my tribe as a Yoruba man. Till you bid this sinful world bye-bye you were always there for me, you took care of your grandson Royal & grand-daughter Olive for 3yr over there at Abakaliki where they did their Junior & Senior Secondary School. It is too painful that you're no more Sister. Am missing your speaking Yoruba to me "se alafia lewa, bawo in gbogbo kan" no body to calls me "Jaidoooh" again, but I got solace in the fact that you were a Believer and you were a Redeemed of our Lord Jesus, am saying Rest in Jesus bosom Sister Nnenna till we meet & part no more.

A FAITHFUL SERVANT OF GOD IS GONE

To: The Family of

Elder Job Ogbonnaya Idam

A FAITHFUL SERVANT OF GOD IS GONE

The news of the demise of our beloved sister Nnenna Job Idam came to us like a thunderstorm, yes, it was a rude shock. We hardly believed it but, alas, it turned out to be true.

We cried and wished it would be reversed but, lo, it was God’s ordained act to take a faithful servant home to rest!

Sister Nnenna Idam was indeed a faithful servant of God while she sojourned on this side of eternity. Ever smiling, but never unserious! Schools’ work was her special calling. Where others failed she succeeded as though she had a magic wand that evoked the success. What was her secret? Passion! Burning passion!! Driving passion!!! Her work in Umuahia Area of Scripture Union (Nigeria) is a living testimony to this. Many of the souls she won and modeled for the Lord are still standing.

God, our Master and true Rewarder, has taken her home to rest in readiness for decoration with crown of many stars. Death has only made this possible and not done her any evil. It is only a pain to us who are left behind because we cannot see her in the flesh again. However, we will be brought together in eternity to part no more when the King of glory comes to rapture His own.

May the family she left behind be consoled by this one fact, that a labourer is worthy of his/her wages. Sister Nnenna, has gone to receive hers from the faithful Master.

Sister Nnenna, rest on until the revelation of Jesus Christ when we shall all meet to enjoy together in eternity.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

It is with difficulty, that I write this condolence message on the death and burial of your dear wife, late Mrs Nnenna Job Idam. When the news came in December 2017, about her death, it was shocking and difficult to believe until your letter came and confirmed it.

We can feel your bereavement and pain and that of your children and the entire Idam family at this moment. And since we cannot reverse this condition, we therefore enjoin you to cheer up and encourage your children and to look up unto God who would grant you and your family the fortitude to bear this loss.

We remember her motherly care, her good Christian life, her role in the Women’s Guild, her support and assistance to church activities, particularly when she led the preparation of food and refreshment items during my investiture as the 2008 father of the year at the PCN World Bank Housing Estate Parish Umuahia.

We would all miss her but we take solace in the fact that she lived a good Christian life and pray God Almighty to grant her soul eternal rest, in Jesus Name, Amen.

You were my best friend, my human confidant. You played the role of a sister, a mother, a mentor and a role model to me. You taught me to treasure the person of the Holy Spirit in the race of life. The wisdom of God at work in your life taught me that there is solution to every challenge of life. A LEGEND GOES HOME

MADAM, as I fondly called you. The Love of my life. Strong, bold, beautiful. With great elegance and poise, you graced this world and I am privileged to be your son, a privilege I ensured I never took for granted

In you was a true expression of the Proverbs 31 woman. In Us you bred a family founded in Love, kept by grace and guided by the word of God. You taught us that after God, family bond should be the upmost. You introduced me to Christ, taught me how to pray, taught me the importance of kingdom service and exhibited the Christ-like life with various Children and Missionaries passing through your care and tutelage all through your life.

Madam, you taught and exhibited the life nugget, that the Investment in Solid Character is the key to a successful life on earth. ChuChu as you would fondly call me and say “Remember you are a Priest dedicated to God from birth”, that has always formed the basis on which I have continued to live the God kind of life.

In your life, I drew the strength to be a teacher, a Christ-modelled teacher, and I am replicating your life, ways, teachings and instructions in the younger generations with success proofs following. Your love for the Youths and your Youth ministry will not be forgotten.

If I could I would cry a river to have you back but I know that you have exhausted your God given potentials and have gone to be with the God who is too faithful to fail. I am grateful to God for having you as my mother. To the best mother ever, I say sleep on in the bossom of God till we meet to part no more.

An Epitome of Motherhood

When I think about writing this note, I struggle to find words. You have been a source of constant encouragement and love to me. I remember at 6 years old when Mummy Vero left us, your strength, love, and encouragement kept us going. You took our sister in your home and cared for her like one of your own. I look at the home you left behind and I see faces of children (now adults) that were raised like our sister. Your good heart is beyond natural - it is a gift from God!

One of the most precious times we spent together was the Christmas before my wedding. Your words of encouragement kept me going against all the odds. Thank you for those stories about our family that put everything together in perspective for me. Thank you for accepting my wife and making her feel loved.

I am excited because I have hope. Not hope from this world. But the hope of resurrection. The hope that we will reunite again. The hope that we will spend eternity together with Jesus. The hope that I will see you again. Till then, enjoy God's manifest presence in Heaven - I can't imagine how much joy you have right now. And please tell Mummy Vero that we are doing fine. We will see her in due time!

TRIBUTE TO MY SUPER MUMMY.

Oh mummy, am yet to come out of the shock and face the reality of your demise. I was shocked to my marrow when I confirmed that it was sunset at midday. The moment I received the news of your ascendance, my world caved in, my heart was torn into two, one was filled with heartache and pain and the other died with you. Sleep eluded me. All I could recall then was your last call when I was in the office that beautiful morning few days before the unthinkable happened. I lie awake at night when the world is fast asleep, through the stillness of the dark. I take a walk down memory lane with tears filled eyes trying to figure out those lovely years I shared in your love, generosity and care for humanity.

Oh death where is thy sting? What a travail of mortal man in vanity. I could write a million pages yet unable to describe your personality and how much you gave yourself and your resources in caring for your children, other people's children and all around you. I lack words in describing the kind of mother you were to me and my siblings but still could not control my tears each time I tried to write. If I could control my tears and write books about you, dear mummy, mummy Umuhia, these would be the greatest ever told of a kind, loving, warm hearted, hard working ( onye nlaka), Inspiring and a virtuous mother who had a generous heart of gold. I don't know why good things don't last. So many questions I will ask God when we get to heaven. Your hands were too open to all without discrimination and it was just a privilege growing up under such a super model.

You were our living epistle in different versions personified. Through your lifestyle, I realized that hospitality is a gift and a ministry which you were called into by your maker and which you sold yourself into till death. Deaths of lovely ones and relatives never moved which made me assumed the life of a strong man but your demise has proved me wrong.

Mummy, you are simply my hero. Your departure to be with your maker has made me not to be afraid of death anymore. The essence of my cry is that death could not even allow you a little bit longer to enjoy the fruits of your labour but we give God all the glory for the legacy you left behind. The vacuum you Left behind is too much bear but we take solace in God who will help us to live without you. I love you so much mummy. I and my family will miss you.

Farewell, ye dreams of night, lost in this dawning light, Farewell mortality, loved and blessed. Wishing you sweet scenes of rest in the Lord's Bossom till we join you. Rest on - My hero, Rest on - my sweet mummy, Rest on - Mummy umuhia, Rest on - Ochiri ozua, Rest on - Nne oha, Lerue enya. Till we meet again on that resurrection morning.

Mummy lives on

Mummy, I am still in shock... I can't imagine not being able to repay all the sacrifices you made for me and everyone you came in contact with. You always had this inner strength, always finding a way to cope with any situation. You are really a superwoman, a role model per excellence, you fought well, You are My hero even in death.

Chai, this life can be unfair, who will call me at least once a week, just to ask me if I have had something to eat ?, who will pray for me?, who can I confide in with serious life issues?.

In all this, All I can say is 'God knows best', but I will continue to love u mummy, and I know we will meet again, this time it will be to part no more. Rest on mummy, Adieu!!!

IRREPLACEABLE LOSS

I didn't know I would be writing this... Mummy you taught me that family is more about bond than blood. When everyone rejected me and my brother you took us in and turned us into the Men we are now.

Izu nwam you would call me on my birthday and pray and prophesy, who will pray for me on the 15th of Dec every year and give me God's counsel for the New Year at least you should have waited for this year.

Mummy all your children are here in the house waiting for you to come back what am I going to tell them? I told them you said we should not cry so we are trying not to,

Training children who weren't yours biologically was natural, you had a passion for the young people, your kindness love and large heart made it impossible for strangers to tell that I wasn't even your biological child now they will be shocked to know this after exactly 20years. Mummy your words were like the voice of God to me, I had no fear of making mistakes in life, now who will pray for us chaaiii. Everything you said to me I will hold dearly. I promise to always make you proud.

Mummy I want to wake up from this dream, but I know we will awake on the resurrection morning when we will meet to part no more.

CONDOLENCE

The bible describes life as a vapour that disappears within a short while, but for you Mummy, it rather came as a very drastic shock that we have not recovered from. It’s obvious we cannot question the Almighty, but if we are allowed to, believe me, we will demand to have you back several times over.

Mummy, you were such a good mother, an example of a Christian mother, a written epistle to me, my entire family and everyone. I never knew my wife had a biological mother besides you. Thank you for all the roles you played in the success of our marriage and the happy home we now enjoy. We were still expecting you to come do the “Omugwu” we agreed on, what about the enrolment of baby Helen into your school, so all this have gone down the drain.

The pain, the hurt, the thought of who will step into the life style you lived here on earth remains a misery that only the havens can provide explanations to. There is nothing Bro IB, Nne, Elder or anyone will write that can completely encapsulate your personality because you were too good to everyone.

Mummy Idam, tears roll down as I write this tribute

My lovely wife is missing you

Baby Helen will miss you, and trust me she will hear about you someday

Mummy teens church will miss you

The lives you touched through your exemplary living will miss you

I (Bro IB) personally will miss you

But with total submission to the Almighty, we pray you rest in the loving bosom of the Lord, till we meet to part no more.

My Pillar of Support

I am still battling to believe that i will never be with you again.

You have always been the pillar that held and kept me focused, with your words of guidance, even when i failed countlessly as a son, you still came in private to inform me that there is always another chance to right my wrong...

You moulded me into the man i grew up as a boy to become.

I never knew, my last call with you, a week before Chuchu broke the news to me, was going to be the last piece of advice and encouragement "we will continue to pray for you my son, be strong" i was going to get from you.

Mumsy, i have cried, but my cry cant bring you back.. I just want you to know that I LOVE YOU. I must surely put into practice all that you taught us.... weird as it may be, i wish to still hear from you, from beyond.
