CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

On behalf of the entire students and staff of the above department, I write to condole with your family on the passing on to glory of your beloved father, Professor Austin Chukwu. The news came to us as a thunderbolt out of the blues. At first, it was too shocking to be believed but as time passed, we realized it was indeed true that our vivacious, eloquent and dedicated teacher and colleague had gone to be with the Lord. Alas! How are the mighty fallen! Tell it not in Gath!

The way of all mortal men is an inevitable passage that we must all take someday sooner or later. However, that our own Professor Austin Chukwu had to go at a time such as this is heart rending. The department has been thrown into deep mourning and sorrow. Many of our postgraduate students have been abandoned midstream without any idea of which way to turn to. The lose is really unbearable. Nevertheless, we know that he loved his students and the department so much that let alone, he would not have opted to abandon us. It was way beyond his control.

We therefore console ourselves and your family mainly by the fact that Professor Austin Chukwu left an enviable legacy in his numerous achievements both in academics, administration, capacity building among his students and in giving birth to such worthy children as you. His life was indeed a very rewarding one. Professor Austin Chukwu left this world better than he met it.... VIEW FULL TRIBUTE

Tribute/ Condolence Message

Johnpaul, your text message of 24th August 29, 2017 announcing the sudden death of your father (my close friend) came to us with a huge shock; the shock isn’t that Austine is beyond death but for him to die at his prime, full of life, and when one can consider his “midway” in our sojourn on earth is the shock. Professor Chukwu was never a candidate for high blood pressure, he has always been a relaxed, articulate and emotionally stable personality. He was an epitome of a good and God fearing man. I cried aloud when I got the sad news, but I remembered that I should be consoling you not to cry like I did. You should take solace to the fact that your father lived a fulfilled and accomplished life. It is in this situation that we re-affirm that “it is not how long one lived but how well”. Your father should be celebrated and not mourned. Professor Austin Chukwu got to the peak of his career at a very tender age and as such dined and wined with the best and the “big Heads” there-are in his field.

Austine’s passing on has created a very big void in the area of Afro. and Carribean Literature. There are quite a few of them on this part of our world, in fact in the entire Africa I doubt if they are close to two of them surviving. Your fathers world-view was simply Proliteranian even though is he was not an... VIEW FULL TRIBUTE

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

I write on behalf of myself and my entire family to commiserate with you on the death of your beloved father and patriarch Professor Austin Chukwu. In fact, the news of his demise came to us as a very rude shock as nobody had expected his transition now. It sounded incredible but of course, it was already a cold fact. I actually imagine the extent of your devastation.

However, be consoled by the fact your father lived and died as a true and worthy son of Omaka-Ejali. He was a true patriot and comrade who stood for truth and equity at all times. He was an academic guru par excellence. He served his society, in fact, this country in various capacities where he was able to touch and impact on the lives of several generations. These are worthy legacies you have to be proud of and strive to keep.

Your family will miss him. His community (Ehugbo) will miss him. The academic world will miss him. Ebonyi State and indeed, Nigeria will miss him. We will all miss him. But be assured that he has gone to be with his creator. He has gone to answerthat inevitable call which awaits all mortals.

Austin is gone!

True brotherhood is gone!!

The lion of Ishieke is gone!!!

May the Good lord grant him eternal rest in his bossom. May He also grant you and the entire Omaka-Ejali dynasty the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Message of Condolence

I was so deeply touched by the rather sudden transition of a friend and a professional colleague, Prof. Autin E. Chukwu. By his demise, the stock of intelligent, decent and knowledgeable members of the academic community has been further depleted. We mourn this tragic loss, and share the grief with the family.

I got close to Prof. in 2004, when he headed a government-sponsored Staff Recruitment Panel in a College of Education, where I was the Chief Executive. I saw him as a very thorough and dispassionate character, I remember calling him A-Z Professor, becuase of his erudition, intelligence and level of organization. But all is now history!

To the entire family, I urge you to shake away sorrow, and accept the nothingness of life, and inevitability of death! It is now left for us to rally round Prof's ideals and advance these legacies. I have the belief that from now henceforth, as we do this, there will be open doors and higher heights for the family.

We pray that Prof's gentle soul will find eternal rest in the Lord's bossom. AMen!

Adieu Great Scholar!

TRIBUTE TO LATE PROFESSOR AUSTIN CHUKWU

The news of the demise of our revered and distinguished Professor Austin Chukwu came to the College with rude shock. The College became like a grave yard since then as both staff and students were yet to come to terms with the reality of the news.

Late Professor Austin Chukwu was well known to the College because he usually occupied an esteemed reserved seat on the high table during our annual College Oath-taking ceremony to bestow the prestigious Ezeogo Omaka Ajali Akpa Chuckwu Price on our best graduating medical doctor. In his peculair posture of confidence, he bellowed in eloquence in his usual command of Queen's English as he called on the best doctor for advice and award of Prize. The College will greatly miss you. The University will even miss you more as your products are now University Lecturers.

The College will indeed mourn your death. But we are greatly consoled by the good and worthy life you lived, the impeccable legacies you left behind, the lives you touched, the knowledge you imparted and your monumental contribution to the knowledge database. You were a teacher of teachers, a distinguished Professor per excellence, great disciplinarian and a devoted christian.

Like St Paul said, you have run a good race, fought a good fight, kept the faith. We pray that God, in His infinite Mercy, grant you that Crown He promised to the Saints. May the Saints and Angels receive you in Paradise.
