TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED BROTHER

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED BROTHER, REV. UGOCHUKWU ADIMORA

A tribute is all I can offer you now,

My brave and big-hearted brother,

The separation seemed unthinkable

I mourned and wept, crying to God,

“How can I face the heartbreak of not seeing my brother again?”

Then God sent an Angel that was my mother, Ukadinma Adimora,

Reminding me not to mourn like those without hope.

Ugons, as my siblings and I fondly called you,

You were ever ready to come to the rescue, to lend a hand.

I sing praises to a brother and Christian soldier extraordinaire

Who taught us about love, loyalty, unity and humility

Lee ka osi di mma bu mmeko nke umunne

Lee ka osi ma mma bu mbiko nke umunne

Obuna idi n’otu, lelelele, lee ka osi di mma

               Bu mmeko nke umunne.

This song resonates because of you, your style,

You lived, worked, served and then left,

A heart of gold that cheered all around you

You were our hands and feet: everything,

Always ready to go the extra mile for us,

Like the Master, you went about doing good,

Carrying other people’s burdens as if they were yours.

Beloved, you left first, but we’ll meet again

In that lovely place where the saints meet;

We’ll gather at the beautiful shimmering river

That flows majestically by the throne of God,

There’ll be no death, no sorrow and no sickness.

Goodbye for now, my dearest brother

We’ll meet again to part no more.

I HAVE LOST MY BEST FRIEND
Memorial Picture of Rev. Ugochukwu Obiora Adimora

I met Ugochukwu Adimora in Enugu in 1974, while I was in Secondary School. I used to shop clothes from his shop in Edingburg Road. Our friendship was spontaneous. We liked each other from day one. Later, he moved out of Enugu and we lost contact. Providence would connect us again in far away Kano City. From that point we were together until he relocated back to Uga from Lagos. We lived together in Kano, Lagos and London. We did business together, wore the same clothes and loved the same kind of music. I make bold to say that I nick-names him Mr. U, which became his popular name.

It was a rude shock the day I saw Nnamdi's obituary post of Facebook. I guess it is true after all, that Mr. U is gone forever. I will forever cherish our friendship. He was a good man. Fun loving not easily offended.

Bye bye Bozo. Sleep well Mr. U. Ka chill foo Reverend.

TO A BROTHER AND HERO OF THE FAITH

Dearest Brother and Friend,

As we brood over your departure, we are compelled to reflect on the life you lived amongst us. From our childhood days, under mom and dad’s tutelage, through teenage and adult years, you were unique in your ways. You flew over many waters in the flamboyance of youth and with the strength of a unicorn. The friendship you arrayed gave you access to many.

We remember those caring moments, both to the young and the old, your burden for the family, your kindness and strength in times of adversity, your characteristic admonisions buttressed in love.

As a younger brother, I admired your hard-work, sacrifice and labour of love. You were defined at heart, resolute in business and your faith in God never wavered. You were decisive in whatever you set your mind to do and your courage gave strength to many.

From when you hit that true jackpot of life and found your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, you never looked back. You devoted the rest of your life to God’s service  and the course of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You answered the call and served God’s purpose.

Although your departure was our least expectation at this time, we rest our faith in the Eternal One Who has welcomed you home.

For your humility, brotherly love and care, we honor you. For all the sacrifice to family, friends and the church, we honor you. We honor your stand for what is just and right. We honor your service... VIEW FULL TRIBUTE

BIOGRAPHY OF LATE REV. UGOCHUKWU OBIORA ADIMORA

Rev. Ugochukwu Obiora Adimora was born on December 8, 1952. He was the 3rd of the children of Joshua and Christiana Adimora of Umueze, Uga, in Aguata Local Government Area, in Anambra State.

He was educated at Ibeme Grammar School, Mbano until the Biafran War started in 1967. Conscripting people into the army was then the norm. He joined the Biafran infantry in 1969 at a very young age and received the full Biafran military training as a Commando at Madonna 7, in Etiti.

When the war ended and the Biafran military disbanded, life was so uncertain for most young men who fought in the war. Ugo made a decision to go into business. In 1971, he returned home from Cameroon where he had travelled for business and relocated to Lagos where he continued in the business profession. Ugo would later move between cities, including Enugu, Kano, Lagos, London, and Warri in his business pursuits before deciding to settle finally in Uga. There were of course many interludes in Ugo’s life that cannot be detailed in this short space.

Early in 1981, Ugochukwu got married to Ngozi from the Nwoye family of Awalasi Village in Uga and they have three children, Nnamdi, Adaugo and Chinyere as well as five grandchildren.

A hardworking and successful businessman, he was the CEO of Benagoz Resources Ltd and the Director of Hobel Resources Ltd. The two companies provided and executed construction and engineering services to numerous customers in the southeastern states of Nigeria.

Ugochukwu was a committed Christian and remained steadfast in his construction business to support his family and the Uga Word Believers Assembly Church he was pastoring.
